Research Progress of Titanium Sponge Production: A Review

Titanium has excellent all-round performance, but the high cost of its production limits widespread use. Currently, Kroll process used to commercially produce titanium sponge is inefficient, energy-intensive, and highly polluting environment. Over past few decades, many new processes have been developed replace in order reduce producing make it a common metal with as applications iron. These can be divided into two categories: thermal reduction electrolysis. Based on their classification, this paper reviews current development status various analyzes advantages disadvantages each process. Finally, direction challenges are put forward.
